We hosted a series of four Open Houses September 16 and 17 to present the draft Steamboat Jubilee Mountain Official Community Plan and share the results of the recent survey. We had approximately 50 people participate over the two days.

The DRAFT Official Community Plan can be found under the Project Information section along with copies of the Open House poster boards and copies of all the map schedules.

A comment period on the draft plan is now open and runs through October 19, 2020. To share your comments or concerns, fill out the comment form on this page. Alternatively, you can email Michele Bates at mbates@rdek.bc.ca.

Following the close of the public comment period, the comments will be considered as the Official Community Plan is finalized. It will then enter the formal bylaw process which includes being presented to the RDEK Board for first and second reading, a public hearing, and finally consideration by the Board for adoption. The formal bylaw process is expected to begin in November or December.

Project Goal:

The current Steamboat – Jubilee Mountain OCP was adopted in 2006. This planning process provides an opportunity to:

  • update the land use policies with the current views of the community;
  • include development permits for environmentally sensitive areas within the plan area; and
  • re-visit the community’s vision for the commercial core in Edgewater.

    An Official Community Plan is a long term, strategic planning document.  An OCP contains objectives and policy statements that provide direction and guide decision making for local government with respect to land use conservation or change.

    The current Steamboat-Jubilee Mountain OCP was adopted in 2006.  The goal of this planning process is to determine if the policies are still current, to include Environmentally Sensitive Development Permit Areas and to revisit the community's vision for the commercial core in Edgewater.
