Draft OCP to be Presented at Upcoming Open Houses

8 September 2020

The RDEK will present the draft Steamboat Jubilee Mountain Official Community Plan (OCP) during Open Houses scheduled to be held over two days next week.

“Running an Official Community Plan process during a pandemic has pushed back our timelines a bit, but staff has been working hard on the plan for several months and we are excited to be at the point where we can share the draft OCP with residents,” says Electoral Area G Director Gerry Wilkie.

The Open Houses will be held at the Prestige Radium Hot Springs Resort in Radium September 16 and 17 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 7:00pm – 9:00pm each day. It will be an informal drop-in format and has been scheduled at four different times to try and ensure all residents have the opportunity to attend and view the draft OCP. The information provided at the Open Houses will be identical so residents only need to attend at a time that works best for them.

“There will not be a formal staff presentation but staff will be available for any questions people may have,” explains Wilkie. Safety precautions such as social distancing and limiting the number of residents within the meeting at one time will be in place. We want residents to be aware that they may be asked to wait outside if the meeting room has reached the capacity of residents who can be safely distanced at one time.

The draft OCP, associated maps, copies of the poster boards from the open house and more will be posted on the Steamboat Jubilee Mountain OCP project page on engage.rdek.bc.ca by September 21st along with the links to the public comment forms. The public comment period will run through October 19, 2020.

While the consultation and comment forms are being run largely on line, those who do not have access to a computer but who wish to get copies of the draft and make comment can contact Michele Bates at 1-888-478-7335 to make arrangements.
