RDEK Launches Solid Waste Management Plan Review

30 October 2018

The review of the RDEK's Solid Waste Management Plan is underway.

The RDEK Board has appointed an Advisory Committee made up of of various stakeholders including the public, municipal representatives, industry members, community groups and First Nations. They will meet monthly throughout the review process and will provide recommendations and input to the Board.

The RDEK is also seeking the public's feedback and is hoping residents and property owners from all corners of the region will get involved and informed about the project. One of the first ways they can contribute is to fill out the Waste Services Survey (click the link to take the survey).

Survey deadline is February 25, 2019.

A SWMP project page has been set up at engage.rdek.bc.ca and will be the hub of information for the project. It will have all documents and reports, videos, idea boards, surveys, news and more.

The SWMP review process is expected to take almost the full year to complete. There will be monthly meetings over the next few months before the draft is presented to the Board and public for review and comment. Following that consultation process, the draft will be edited as required and submitted for the formal adoption process by the Board and Ministry.
