The Fairmont Creek Debris Flow Hazard & Risk Assessment and Mitigation Options project is underway. This Assessment is required because the current plan is old, outdated and several events have transpired since it was completed. The contract was awarded to BGC Engineering who will update the existing Assessment to include recent events and constructed infrastructure, and recommend additional mitigation measures if necessary.

The engineers from BGC have recently been on site on Fairmont Creek and have now completed their field work. Over the fall and early winter, they will now turn their focus to completing modeling and data analysis before preparing an updated Hazard and Risk Assessment. Once complete, the Assessment will be presented to the RDEK Board and shared with the community. The report is expected to be complete in Spring 2025.
