Project Update - July 12, 2024

12 July 2024

Since the last project update on June 20, the focus of the work has been on the outlet structure. The outlet structure is constructed of cast in place concrete with a metal grate structure in the opening. It is located along the existing channel and when the project is completed, the creek will flow through it. The picture included with this update is of the formwork that is being constructed for the outlet structure.

The outlet structure consists of roughly 500 cubic meters of concrete and extensive reinforcing steel and is being constructed in five separate concrete pours. The first two pours have been completed and the third pour is currently scheduled for one day during the week of July 22. On the day of the concrete pour, work will begin at 3am. This is necessary to take advantage of the cooler temperatures that the concrete requires during the pour so that it cures properly. There will be increased traffic to and from the site on this day and traffic control will be in place.

In order to continue working safely through the extremely warm temperatures we have been experiencing throughout the region, our construction crew is starting work at 6am. Thank you for your understanding with this schedule adjustment. Once the temperatures are less intense, I’m sure our crew will be happy to get back to their regular start time!
