The Columbia Lake Management Strategy adopted in 1997 is being updated. The Columbia Lake Management Plan will be developed through a collaborative process involving public engagement and input from a technical committee. The Columbia Lake Management Plan will help guide local government decisions related to Columbia Lake and is anticipated to be adopted by both the RDEK and Village of Canal Flats.

The planning process will identify and analyze ecological, cultural, and recreational values and concerns associated with Columbia Lake and develop management strategies to address concerns and leverage opportunities.

The draft Plan is now complete and is being reviewed by the Technical Committee. The public presentation of the draft and comment period is anticipated to occur in October.

We appreciate your patience as RDEK staff has worked to prepare the draft. As COVID-19 evolves, the RDEK will continue to look for opportunities to engage with people in-person as conditions allow. While we do not yet have a specific date for public release, the draft plan and details on how to comment will be posted here in early September and shared via our email groups once it is available.
