Construction Update - March 21, 2024

Work on EV Site in late fall

Here is the latest construction update on the regional organics receiving and processing facilities.

Central Site Progress

  • The RDEK's electrical subcontractor is sourcing blower controller parts for individual blower operation & on/off blower timer function
  • Work is underway to complete the aeration piping connection system
  • Grinder/Mixer arrived onsite and placed on receiving pad until commissioning
  • Air distribution pipes are placed but not yet connected

Columbia Valley Site Progress

  • The Grinder/Mixer delivery date is anticipated by early April
  • Asphalt pad shouldering has not occurred as winter conditions did not allow for execution
  • Concrete receiving pad excavation has been declared a seasonal deficiency and will be executed in the spring
  • The Grinder/Mixer delivery is anticipated in early to mid April

Elk Valley Site Progress

  • BC Hydro has completed the power pole installation and overhead wiring to the meter pole connection
  • The RDEK’s electrical subcontractor has completed underground wiring from the meter pole to the Motor Control Centre
  • The electrical supply and distribution system will be energized on Monday March 25

Planned Work for Next Progress Period

  • Receipt of grinder mixer conveyor belt units for Invermere and Sparwood
  • RDEK electrical contractor energize power supply and distribution systems
  • Blower connection to aeration distribution piping
  • Blower electrical individual control and timer installs for each site
  • Air distribution piping installation for all sites
  • Wireless temperature probe purchase and shipment
  • Modem with SIM card and antenna installation for Invermere and Sparwood
  • Computer system portion of temperature monitoring system to each site
