Flood Damage Report: November Rainfall Event

Starting on the weekend of November 13, the Regional District of East Kootenay experienced a heavy rainfall event that has resulted in localized flooding and impacts to transportation corridors.
The Regional Emergency Operations Centre has been activated in support of local governments and agencies responding to the flooding.
IF YOU EXPERIENCED DAMAGE TO YOUR HOME OR PROPERTY:
- Report it to your insurance company. Contact your insurance company and determine what they will cover.
- Document the damage - Take photos or video of the damage and keep all receipts related to the clean up/repairs.
- Please fill out a Property Damage Form at the bottom of this page. This will help the RDEK understand the scope of damage as a result of this storm. Please attach at least one photo showing the damage (you can attach a maximum of five). CLICK HERE for Property Damage Form
- Consider applying for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA). This is a Provincial program for uninsurable losses. The deadline to apply is February 12, 2022. Application forms can be downloaded from this page. CLICK HERE for more information on DFA.
