The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) adopts Park Management Plans to establish objectives and strategies for the long-term management of RDEK trails and parks. Management plans are intended to provide strategic direction and guidance for the RDEK, community associations, and park stewards over a 15- to 20-year period.

Management plans should address topics such as land acquisition, site planning, facility development, recreation, user groups, access management, public safety, maintenance, invasive plant control, wildfire threats, and funding and partnership agreements.

The Edgewater School Path is a 250m gravelled trail that runs along the east side of Sinclair Street. The trail begins at the intersection of Riverview Drive and Sinclair Street and parallels the east side of Sinclair Street until the path reaches Edgewater School. The primary function of Edgewater School Path is to provide a safe route for cyclists and pedestrians.

Wilmer Community Park (formally known as Selkirk Park) is located along Bullin Street and Mays Avenue, spanning approximately 3.4 ha (8.35 ac). The park is comprised mostly of heavily wooded areas and a steep ravine, which leads from the town’s main street down to wetlands.
