The RDEK is in the process of developing Park Management Plans for three Electoral Area B parks:

  • Tie Lake
  • Rosen Lake Accesses
  • Dawson's Path

Park Management Plans establish objectives and strategies for the long-term management of RDEK trails and parks and are intended to provide strategic direction and guidance for the RDEK, community associations and stewards of the park for a 15 to 20 year period.

Management plans address topics such as land acquisition, site planning, facility development, recreation, user groups, access management, public safety, maintenance, control of invasive plants, threats from wildfire and funding and partnership agreements.

Tie Lake Regional Park is a 12 hectare park with a beach and swimming area, several picnic areas, a picnic shelter, walking trails, fire pits, a baseball diamond, horseshoe and bocce pits and wheelchair accessible outhouse facilities. The park is located at the end of Tie Lake Road, 7 kms north of Jaffray.

The Park opens May 1 and closes September 30 annually.

Two small access points that include small beaches, picnic tables and outhouse facilities are located on the west and east sides of Rosen Lake and are open to the public.

Dawson’s Path is a 2.4 km gravel trail running along the east side of Jaffray-Baynes Lake Road with the primary function of providing a safe route for cyclists and pedestrians. The trail begins in the community of Jaffray and ends at Sand Creek.

The RDEK has opened a 30-day comment period to gather public input on the draft plans for each of these parks. The draft plans can be found in the Document Library section on this page.
