The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has identified several highway intersections within Electoral Area B that would benefit from the installation of a street light. Lighting these intersections will increase visibility at night for vehicles and pedestrians, especially for vehicles turning on and off the highway.
The intersections are:
Highway 3/93 & Kikomun Road
Highway 93 & Jaffray-Baynes Lake Road
Highway 3/93 & Galloway
Highway 93 & Grasmere-Dorr Road
Intersection lights are currently installed in the Jaffray area along Highway 3 at Tie Lake Road and Rosen Lake Road. Operating costs for these lights are paid by taxpayers in the Jaffray and Area Intersection Lighting Service Area.
We are proposing to expand this Service Area to include all of Electoral Area B. This will allow all current, proposed and future intersection lights in Electoral Area B to be administered under the same service area and will spread the operating costs among all taxpayers in Electoral Area B, who will directly benefit from increased lighting at these busy intersections.
Please submit your comments regarding the proposed service area expansion prior to 12:00 pm on Monday September 30, 2019. To leave your comments / feedback, click the Comment Form link below.
